About the position

The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) supports the program director in ensuring that the supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs) meet current practice standards as they relate to the PA role in providing patient care. The DCE is actively involved in the organization, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of all experiential activities within the PA Program. The DCE will ensure the quality and quantity of SCPEs meets the program's needs for accreditation maintenance. The DCE is also responsible for teaching, student advising, and service-related activities as deemed appropriate based on qualifications and as assigned by the Program Director.

Responsibilities

  • Testify to personal experience of salvation in Jesus Christ, affirm belief in the University's Statement of Faith, abide by and practice our Life Together Covenant, and both personally agree with and support the Foundational Documents of Taylor University.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Taylor's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees clinical support staff; planning, assigning, and directing work for clinical support staff; appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems for clinical support staff.
  • Support PA Program Director and faculty in ensuring experiential activities meet current practice standards.
  • Actively coordinate, monitor and evaluate student rotations (SCPEs).
  • Actively develop new experiential sites (SCPEs) for the PA program.
  • Establish experiential policies and oversee experiential course operation and documentation.
  • Provide preceptor guidance and training as needed.
  • Establish and monitor qualifications for experiential sites and preceptors.
  • Oversee and manage affiliation agreements with all clinical partners.
  • Teach in didactic courses as directed and assigned by the Program Director.
  • Maintain rotation syllabi and content.
  • Function as liaison between SCPEs and Taylor University.
  • Oversee the evaluation processes (preceptor-student, student-preceptor).
  • Develop, plan, and teach the Core Review course series and oversee the summative process.
  • Recognize and reward experiential sites and volunteer faculty.
  • Represent Taylor University, the PA Program and PA Profession to the medical community and public.
  • Serve as a professional role model for enrolled and prospective PA students.
  • Engage in scholarly and professional activities and service to the department, University, community and the profession as appropriate and determined by the Program Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Current NCCPA certified Physician Assistant (PA), OR minimum 5 years of previous healthcare experience in a role such as RN, healthcare administration, clinical liaison, etc., required
  • Commitment to physician assistant education, required
  • State licensure, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, required
