Cengage is on a mission to make every student a confident learner, and we are looking for a Director, Marketing Analytics and Data Science to help achieve that goal. In this role, your duty is to establish and complete the team vision. The team will expand its directive into new business units and also be expected to interpret and enable use of data into insights and actions that support our customer-centric Go-to-Market optimization strategies. Additionally, this role will ensure collaboration between marketing analytics and data science, to deliver an integrated approach to insights, modeling, and decision support that enhances business impact.

  • Establish an expanded team vision that delivers on existing US Higher Ed analytical improvements, and newly establishes them across our portfolio of global education businesses.
  • Lead a team of analysts and scientists that optimize Cengage Group GTM efforts, synthesizing insights to prioritize end-to-end initiative improvements.
  • Mentor your team in analytics-based recommendations and enablement, helping them translate qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ensure consistency in analytic methodologies and reporting, proactively identifying and working through data gaps and integrity issues.
  • Serve on the Global Marketing Operations leadership team promoting operation efficiencies and helping to drive revenue across the company.
  • Provide regular updates to the Leadership Team regarding the impact of marketing programs on the overall GTM motion for the company.
  • Play a strategic role in the Decision Support function.
  • Ability to create, define, and implement a team vision and directive.
  • High energy self-starter, comfortable acting as a player-coach.
  • Comfortable setting clear expectations and coaching team and peers in process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work with varied team members and groups (at all levels).
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience and a shown foundation in statistical and data science concepts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of analytic experience, including experience working in Marketing Analytics and Data Science.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Skill with analytic tools ranging from relational databases and SQL to Excel, and Python/R.
  • Ability to tell a clear story with data and translate to business and customer implications.
  • Skilled with creating effective presentations, tailored to different audiences.
  • Experience with data visualization and enablement tools like PowerBI, CRM like Salesforce and/or Salesforce Data Cloud and data stores like Snowflake.
  • Experience in the structure and assessment of A/B tests to support continual optimization.
  • Experience in building and deploying models for marketing applications (e.g. lead scoring and churn prediction).
  • Experience integrating insights and data science models into marketing strategies and automation workflows.
  • Experience instructing statistical and data science concepts to others.
  • Experience using sampling techniques to monitor and analyze performance.
