About The Position

The Director of Engineering at Flex will oversee a broad functional area, managing several senior Design & Engineering managers. This role is crucial for directing the design, development, and evaluation of integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and systems. The position requires collaboration with other leaders to establish objectives, ensure project delivery within budget and quality specifications, and improve customer satisfaction through continuous development of processes and metrics.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • Minimum of 8 years of management experience.
  • A Master's or MBA degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrates mastery of functional knowledge in relation to other functions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using innovative techniques.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and drive action plans.

  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability principles.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control the activities of broad functional area through several senior Design & Engineering managers.
  • Partner with other leaders to establish objectives and action plans.
  • Ensure the development of Design & Engineering solutions for diversified industry segments.
  • Ensure budget, schedules, and performance indicators meet corporate guidelines.
  • Provide technical and strategic guidance to subordinate directors.
  • Develop and continuously improve people, methods, systems, processes, and metrics.
  • Organize and lead reviews to ensure projects are delivered on time and within cost targets.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to integrate Engineering & Design activities with manufacturing operations.
  • Implement HR strategies to recruit and retain a qualified workforce.
