About The Position

The Direct Care Nurse Facilitator plays a crucial role in developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the Direct Care Nursing program for students with disabilities. This position ensures that medically fragile students receive appropriate nursing services as part of their Individual Education Plans (IEPs), allowing them to attend school in a safe and supportive environment. The facilitator will also oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of registered nurses who provide these essential services.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Georgia through the Board of Nursing.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing required.
  • Three years of experience in a hospital, medical facility, home health care, or public health required.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Pediatric experience in medical areas preferred.
  • Effective leadership, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of medical and psychiatric diagnoses and treatment modalities.
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation protocols and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the Direct Care Nursing program.
  • Assist in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, and supervising registered nurse candidates.
  • Coordinate and evaluate the delivery of effective medical support to students with disabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with students' IEPs and IDEIA regulations regarding nursing services.
  • Develop guidelines and procedures for the Direct Care Nursing program.
  • Maintain a full complement of direct care nurses, including recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Assess and evaluate the performance of direct care nurses through evaluations and audits.
  • Provide 24-hour access to nurses and families for staffing dilemmas and illnesses.
  • Coordinate and supervise the schedule of each nurse based on students' medical needs.
  • Develop and conduct ongoing orientation and professional learning for staff.
  • Guide local school IEP teams and parents regarding medical issues and disabilities' impact on education.
  • Support local school staff in IEP meetings and challenges concerning nursing services.
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments, parents, and physicians.
  • Coordinate payroll functions for nursing staff.
  • Supervise operations of high-tech medical equipment.
  • Ensure all staff credentials are maintained and medical documentation is accurate.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range from $30,515.00 to $46,513.50 annually.
  • Scheduled days: 230 days per year.
