About the position
The Chief of Strategy and Political Outreach (CSPO) position at Democracy Re-Stated is responsible for leading political outreach efforts to educate and engage legislatures, governors' offices, and political parties in all fifty states. The goal is to build awareness and support for the organization's mission of holding an informal convention in 2025 to draft a constitutional amendment on federalism. The CSPO will develop and implement strategic plans, continuously evaluate and adapt strategies, and work towards bipartisan consensus by convincing political actors from both parties to nominate delegates to the convention.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the organization's political outreach strategy.
- Continuously evaluate and adapt strategies to address emerging challenges and opportunities.
- Engage with political actors, primarily at the state level, to build awareness of and support for the organization's mission to hold an informal convention in 2025.
- Convince political actors from both parties, in all states, to nominate delegates to the convention.
Requirements
- Lead the development of the organization's political outreach strategy
- Continuously evaluate and adapt strategies to address emerging challenges and opportunities
- Engage with political actors, primarily at the state level, to build awareness of and support for the organization's mission
- Convince political actors from both parties, in all states, to nominate delegates to the informal convention
- Strong understanding of federalism and constitutional change
- Expertise in constitutional law and political science
- Ability to work with both major parties and focus on the states
- Excellent strategic planning and implementation skills
- Strong political outreach and communication skills
- Ability to build awareness and support for the organization's mission
- Experience in engaging with legislatures, governors' offices, and political parties
- Ability to educate political actors about the organization's ideas and goals
- Strong leadership and management skills
