This is a full-time paid internship program spanning ten weeks from June through August 2026. Participation in the internship requires that you are located in the continental United States with in-person attendance at your assigned location, in accordance with Capital One's hybrid working model, for the duration of the program. Interns will be evaluated for a full-time position within our rotational programs, with a start date one year following the completion of the internship. At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization, or offer any immigration related support for this position (i.e. H1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1, TN, E-2, E-3, L-1 and O-1, or any EADs or other forms of work authorization that require immigration support from an employer.

  • Collaborate with a diverse and passionate team of talented cyber security professionals.
  • Engage in hands-on experience across a variety of cybersecurity functions.
  • Work on projects ranging from cyber data analysis and automations to defending networks through analysis and monitoring of systems.
  • Assess software, systems, and networks for vulnerabilities and flaws.
  • Support network defense, offensive security, cyber risk assessments, and more.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to bolster and secure Capital One's cybersecurity.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher with an expectation that you will complete your most recent full-time degree program by August 2027 or earlier.
  • Must be continuing in the same course of study of your most recent full-time degree program following completion of the internship.
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or higher in a technical and/or quantitative discipline, including computer science, computer engineering, cyber security, information assurance, information systems, information technology, or mathematics.
  • Understanding of cyber security concepts such as operating systems analysis (MS Windows/MacOS) and network forensics (Kali Linux).
  • Knowledge of the basics of network security and protocols (e.g., encryption, firewalls, authentication, honey pots, perimeter protection).
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity and a desire to explore multiple domains before specializing.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles, networking, operating systems, and security concepts.
  • Coursework in IT fundamentals, cloud security, cryptography, network security, and/or data security.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks (NIST Cybersecurity Framework, MITRE ATT&CK).
  • Hands-on experience or coursework in digital forensics (Kali Linux), malware analysis, or incident response.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and conceptual skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Working level programming skills or experience in one or more of the following areas: Java, Python, C#, C/C++, JSON, SQL, PL/SQL, Shell scripts.
