About The Position

We're building the next generation of innovative digital products in our industry, and we're looking for an energetic, proactive Director of Product Design, Client Prospecting Field Experiences to lead the charge. Among other accountabilities, the Client Prospecting Value Stream is accountable for enabling our agents and advisors to conduct their own marketing activities including communicating their own brand, establishing their own websites, email campaigns, social media activity, and more. Client prospecting provides digital products, platforms, data, insights, content and other support to enable and guide agents and advisors in these critical activities. We're looking for a dedicated leader who can execute a strategic vision for NYL across the end-to-end life cycle of product design for this portfolio of digital platform experiences that are used by our Agents and Advisors to conduct marketing activities. Part B2B, part B2C - this role is about bringing together an understanding of marketing creative direction and content, web design, and enterprise application design. This role also isn't just about aesthetics-it's about weaving trust, clarity, and empathy into our digital experiences. We believe in ensuring user accessibility/inclusivity throughout all digital journeys. You'll be challenged to work on upholding this mission in every user touchpoint.

Requirements

  • 10 years or more in product design or UX/UI of complex multi-persona-facing experiences.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • 4 years or more in managing user/design research and testing.
  • 4 years or more managing usability analysis.
  • Experience with managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, very deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, and user experience.
  • A bachelor's in a relevant field such as Design, Interaction Design, Fine arts, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • A successful track record of shipping digital experience designs in a Scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.
  • Understanding of technical architecture including service-oriented architecture and micro-services.
  • Mastery of design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Advanced skills in design for and evaluating accessibility within industry standards (WCAG and ADA).

  • Experience delivering in Life Insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Ability to articulate with stakeholders and push projects forward.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and systemically.

Responsibilities

  • Direct UX strategy and product design using human-centered design methodologies.
  • Partner on research with design strategy, UX research, and other insights teams.
  • Use visualizations to articulate the design direction and experience strategy.
  • Lead reviews and report on advancements in application design within Life insurance and financial services.
  • Establish clear workflows, processes, and goals in partnership with design ops teams.
  • Define and manage a design roadmap, backlog, and QA processes.
  • Balance cost/benefit of product design projects with NYL's design system.
  • Collaborate with design peers to improve the quality of interactions and experiences.
  • Ensure inclusivity/accessibility in every step of the client and agent/advisor journey.
  • Continually test and improve experiences associated with highly regulated business operations.
  • Manage the creation of wireframes, user flows, mock-ups, prototypes, layouts, and UI elements.
  • Develop and deliver presentations for senior leadership.
  • Partner widely with department and program leadership for MVP delivery.
