About The Position

Emory University Hospital (EUH) Surgical Specialties Team is seeking to hire Anesthetists - Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) - to become a vital part of Emory Healthcare's integrated academic healthcare system. At EUH, all Anesthetists are expected to supervise Student Anesthetists as well as have the potential opportunity to participate in clinical research. Under the direction of an Anesthesiologist, assists in the administration of general and regional anesthesia to surgical and non-surgical procedure patients. EUH covers a wide range of surgical cases including Vascular procedures, Surgical Oncology, Colorectal, Urology, Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, Reconstructive Plastic Care, and General Abdominal procedures. EUH cares for a large volume of advanced Neurosurgical procedures and supports a busy procedural GI and Interventional Pulmonary team. Additionally, EUH staffs one of the busiest and most successful Liver Transplant Programs in the US.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) Master's Degree program.
  • Licensed or eligible to practice in the State of Georgia.
  • Certified by National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) or National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA).
  • Must maintain biannual certification through the submission of Continuing Medical Education credits (CMEs).
  • BLS from American Heart Association (AHA) required. ACLS (AHA) may be required for some locations and/or services.

Nice To Haves

  • General and/or Transplant Anesthesia experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the administration of general and regional anesthesia to surgical and non-surgical procedure patients.
  • Performs initial acute cardio-pulmonary resuscitation in life-threatening situations or as directed by a physician.
  • Instructs others in principles and practices of anesthesia, respiratory care and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as directed by the Anesthesiologist.
  • Interprets and records patient's physiological and pharmacological status, assists the Anesthesiologist in gathering routine pre-op data.
  • Establishes multi-parameter monitoring of patient prior to, during and after anesthesia or in other acute care situations.
  • Manages pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator management/support, other respiratory care parameters as assigned/directed by an Anesthesiologist.
  • Assists in research projects as carried out by an Anesthesiologist.
