About the position

The Counselor Education Faculty - Clinical Coordinator oversees all aspects of the MA Counselor Education students' clinical training experiences for the GPC department. This role involves coordinating departmental efforts in establishing training sites for MA student placement. The coordinator collaborates with the Andrews Community Counseling Center Director and other faculty to construct student application guidelines and procedures for counseling students. The position includes both administrative and teaching duties.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison for the department, site supervisors, and students to ensure high-quality training experiences.
  • Inform site supervisors about departmental training requirements and ensure compliance.
  • Manage clinical training placement for all master counseling students and approve contract paperwork.
  • Manage data and documentation of students' training experiences.
  • Maintain open communication between faculty, students, and site supervisors to address issues proactively.
  • Respond to general inquiries regarding practicum and internship.
  • Teach courses at various times, including evenings, and may require some travel.
  • Stay informed of current trends and new approaches in counseling and counselor education.
  • Maintain an active research agenda through presentations and publications.
  • Participate in student dissertation committees as chair or member.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education with state licensure as a counselor (LPC).
  • 5 years or more of clinical experience.
  • Experience in online/remote/distance teaching.
  • Experience in practicum and internship supervision.
  • Evidence of scholarship through research publications and presentations.
  • Advanced skills in verbal and written English.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with good analytical skills.
  • Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.

  • Ability to demonstrate inclusivity, civility, and respect for all.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Capable of working closely with other faculty in a team-oriented environment.
