About The Position

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED plus food preparation experience, or an Associate's Degree or a combination of education and experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Current Serv Safe or Safe Plates certification.
• Knowledge of USDA/CACFP requirements and Head Start Performance Standards related to food and nutrition is preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation and storage techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of sanitation and food service regulations.
• Ability to organize and direct kitchen activities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Supervise the food service operation for the Head Start kitchen.
• Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for assigned centers.
• Assemble ingredients according to lunch instructions and make substitutions as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area, kitchen utensils, and food service equipment.
• Assist in inventory management and food supply stocking.
• Verify and record daily lunch counts and determine meal requirements for special diets.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently for quantity food preparation.
• Ensure food items are prepared, served, and stored in compliance with health regulations.
• Follow safe work practices and adhere to applicable standards.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions, including health and sanitation requirements.
