About The Position

The Boise State University Foundation's communications portfolio includes a comprehensive print and digital media strategy, electronic newsletters, web content, fundraising materials, magazine stories, press releases, robust social media, university event landing and registration pages, and online giving pages. To meet the needs of the Foundation and its internal teams (including Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Partnerships, major gift officers and Foundation leadership), the Senior Communications Specialist will assist in executing these projects, primarily with writing student, donor, corporate/foundation and alumni impact stories and other projects as needed. In addition, the Senior Communications Specialist's work includes assisting and executing each of the Foundation unit's multi-channel marketing projects, including email and registration page development and project management for campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, students, alumni, donors and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing the creation of assets for complex marketing projects.
  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills, including Associated Press style.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Ability to translate technical information into readily understandable terms.
  • Knowledge of web publishing programs and content management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing and strategic planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in journalism, media relations, PR, communications, marketing or a related field.
  • Experience working in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write and disseminate alumni, student, donor and corporate impact stories for print, web and social media.
  • Assist in writing stories for the Boise State Magazine and college/department impact feature stories in support of the Foundation's mission.
  • Review materials submitted by internal and external constituencies for potential use.
  • Edit and revise materials as needed, with a keen eye on strategic objectives.
  • Proofread materials to ensure all deliverables are error free and of the highest possible quality.
  • Collaborate from concept through completion as a manager of communication projects with each of the Foundation's units.
  • Coordinate aspects of campaigns with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the writing/editing of executive remarks and executive briefs for donor visits and events.
  • Serve as a communications expert and help script video and multimedia projects.
  • Assist in creating and executing the strategic communications for all Foundation social media channels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
