About The Position

The Communications & Marketing Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all public-facing communications for the Parks & Recreation Department in Juneau. This role focuses on enhancing community engagement through effective marketing strategies, managing social media, and organizing community events. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to promote departmental goals and foster community connections.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in marketing, advertising, event/program planning, or administrative work involving social media.
• Post-secondary education in a related field may substitute for required experience.

• Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Manage public-facing communications for the Parks & Recreation Department.
• Create and implement marketing plans that align with departmental goals.
• Coordinate public outreach efforts and ensure consistent messaging across various platforms.
• Work closely with the Graphic Design & Marketing Coordinator to develop engaging content.
• Oversee daily social media management, including creating posts and responding to community interactions.
• Prepare press releases and manage media relations in collaboration with the CBJ Public Information Office.
• Plan and execute community programs and events that align with community interests.
• Design innovative activities and promote participation in events.
• Handle multiple projects and priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
