About The Position

The Code Enforcement Officer position within the Economic Development department of the City of Orlando is responsible for enforcing city codes through inspections of various properties to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and ordinances. This role requires making verbal presentations in front of the Code Enforcement Board, Court, and Hearing Officers, and involves physical inspections in various weather conditions, including occasional weekend and evening work.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate.
• Three (3) years of experience in housing and zoning inspection, state or local government law enforcement, or construction trades for Code Enforcement Officer I; five (5) years for II; seven (7) years for III.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Ability to pass a driver's physical and background check, including polygraph.
• State of Florida Parking Enforcement Specialist certification required within one (1) year of employment.
• International Code Council Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential, commercial, industrial, and public properties for compliance with city codes.

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
