About The Position

The Co-Responder County Caseworker 3 position involves providing Mental Health Co-Responder services while working closely with local police departments. The role is designed for motivated individuals who are committed to helping the community by offering social service responses to individuals in need, rather than relying solely on law enforcement. The position requires the ability to function independently, maintain confidentiality, and effectively interact with individuals and families in various situations.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Caseworker 2; or
  • A bachelor's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences and three years of professional social casework experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 college credits in relevant fields.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and meet legal requirements under the Child Protective Services Law.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a public or private social services agency.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including clinical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health co-responder services in collaboration with local police departments.
  • Respond to incidents where a social services response is more appropriate than a law enforcement response.
  • Maintain confidentiality in high-pressure situations.
  • Utilize knowledge of human behavior to assess and interact with individuals in need of services.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of interactions and services provided.
  • Facilitate meetings to develop service plans for consumers.
  • Coordinate services with other social service agencies and professionals.
