About The Position

Join our ever-growing team of trainers and instructors at World Gym Kalispell. Enjoy a team environment in a dynamic work place within our state of the art facility. The Group Exercise Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.

Requirements

• At least six months teaching in a group exercise format.
• Knowledge of safe exercise technique and group exercise principles.
• Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics.
• Ability to perform a variety of exercise routines.
• Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
• Group fitness certification by ACE, AFAA, ACSM.
• Current CPR certification and basic first aid training is required.
• Physical demands include the ability to lift light weights, bending, squatting, jumping, running, reaching, walking, hopping, spinning and kicking.
• Class specific Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Specialized skill such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc.

Responsibilities

• Arrive at class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to interact with members and answer questions.
• Know participants on an individual basis and assess their fitness capabilities.
• Wear appropriate fitness attire and proper footwear at all times.
• Prepare appropriate music for class and ensure all equipment is functioning correctly.
• Introduce yourself and the format of the class to participants.
• Assess fitness levels of first-timers in a private manner.
• Ensure clear verbal instructions and conducive atmosphere for learning and fun.
• Monitor participants to ensure correct form and offer variations for different fitness levels.
• Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants.
• Remove all music and return microphone to proper place after class.
• Ensure room is in order for the next class and answer participant questions.
• Solicit feedback from participants about the class.
• Ensure class begins and ends promptly and make adjustments as necessary.
• Find a qualified substitute if unable to fulfill a scheduled class and notify the Group Exercise Director.
• Attend all required staff meetings and follow proper time recording procedures.
• Prepare incident and/or witness reports as necessary and maintain a positive attitude.
