The Clinical Pharmacist performs professional pharmaceutical duties in drug education and utilization, counsels patients on drug usage, educates health care personnel on drug utilization, and may compound drugs and dispense medicines in a clinical pharmacy. The essential functions include interviewing and examining patients for drug evaluation, consulting with physicians on drug usage, conducting training for healthcare staff, participating in the development of medication use policies, and preparing and dispensing medications. Positions are located throughout the Department of Public Health, including various hospitals and clinics, and may involve working with diverse populations, including those in jails and psychiatric facilities.
