About The Position

The Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist is responsible for performing phlebotomy and other laboratory tasks with minimal supervision. This entry-level position requires effective communication skills and the ability to maintain inventory and supplies. The role involves direct patient care and clerical functions, ensuring high standards of service and confidentiality. Candidates may be considered for a paid apprenticeship if they lack phlebotomy experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated schooling or experience in general phlebotomy.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• PBT (ASCP) certification or equivalent.
• Completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and other laboratory modalities as assigned.
• Maintain supplies and inventory necessary for departmental functions.
• Observe and assist students or new staff as needed.
• Exhibit problem-solving skills to ensure exceptional patient care.
• Handle hospital communication responsibilities, including on-call duties.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and telephone communication skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Participate in on-call coverage as needed.
• Assist in clerical functions, including documenting critical communications.
• Participate in holiday, evening, and weekend coverage as required.
