About The Position

The full-time clinical instructor faculty works collaboratively with other Faculty, Staff, and Administrators within the School of Nursing. Serves as a faculty extender within clinical learning areas. Promotes student success by fostering student development of critical thinking, clinical reasoning and skills performance. The full-time clinical faculty directs, manages, and evaluates student learning in clinical/lab settings following the Collaborative Agreement Regarding Education (CARE) for Clinical Excellence Model with a primary focus on safety and student development of clinical reasoning skills in progression toward specific course learning outcomes. The full-time clinical faculty reports to and works closely with Lead Course Faculty, Program, Clinical, and Simulation/Laboratory Coordinators. Moreover, the full-time clinical faculty functions under guidance of nurse faculty responsible for varied nursing courses. The full-time clinical faculty follows all Policies and Procedures of School of Nursing as well as those of Campbellsville University. The full-time clinical faculty may be asked to sit in on advising sessions, committee meetings, and or professional development/conference activities as requested in order that the overall School of Nursing mission be accomplished. Accepts and completes clinical assignments as directed. The position minimum is one Fundamentals, one MedSurg I, one MedSurg II clinical group per semester, along with an practicum oversight assignment of up to 5 students per semester during the practicum experience. Clinical group assignments occur in both Fall and Spring semesters in the ADN/AASN registered nursing program on main campus. Clinical group assignments will require grading of clinical documentation and work credit time is allowed during the work week for this activity. The full-time position includes the additional requirements listed in the Clinical/Skills Laboratory Instructor Requirements for Employment under RN Policy 100-68.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Nursing Education preferred; or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
  • Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky.
  • Current AHA BLS certification.
  • Completion of clinical requirements, background check, drug screening, and personal medical insurance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time or equivalent experience as a registered nurse within the immediate past five (5) years.
  • Evidence of clinical competence appropriate to teaching responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Complete clinical assignments as directed, including teaching clinical groups.
  • Grade clinical documentation and provide feedback to students.
