About The Position

The Climbing Arborist Crew Leader directs crew members and equipment, planning and executing assigned work or tasks. This role involves leading a crew in providing arboricultural care, including climbing trees using various systems, pruning, removing deadwood, and installing protective systems. The position also includes mentoring crew members and maintaining all tools and equipment necessary for the job.

Requirements

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire.

• Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates.
• ISA Certified Arborist.
• ISA Certified Tree Worker.
• TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional.

Responsibilities

• Climb Trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Safely and productively lead a crew in providing arboricultural care.
• Conduct Jobsite Hazards, Obstacles, Plan, Equipment (H.O.P.E) process.
• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
• Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Mentor crew members through the Davey Career Development Program.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.
