About The Position

The Client Care Aide II position at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo is a full-time role focused on providing nursing care and support to adolescents aged 12 to 17 with psychiatric disorders. The position involves administering both psychiatric and medical crisis interventions under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The role requires effective communication skills and the ability to manage crises while adhering to established standards and guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience working as a CNA or performing similar duties.
  • Current, valid certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (substitutes for high school diploma).
  • Current, valid licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies or any state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact (substitutes for experience requirement).
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a mental health setting.
  • Willingness to work an occasional graveyard/night shift.
  • Possession of CNA License.
  • Experience assisting residents/patients with their Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care with the mentally ill population.

Responsibilities

  • Administer nursing care, both psychiatric and medical crisis interventions under the direction and supervision of an RN.
  • Monitor the milieu for needed interventions and utilize therapeutic interventions to manage crises.
  • Promptly respond to patients' psychiatric and/or medical crises and report changes in patient conditions to the RN.
  • Complete and document all assigned duties each shift, including vital signs and ADL care.
  • Follow and maintain infection control standards and regulations.
  • Provide safe and secure transport of patients to various locations as needed.
  • Participate in the QA/PI process at the unit level as directed by the Nurse Manager.
