About The Position

The CEWD Part-Time Instructor in Biotechnology at Alvin Community College is responsible for teaching biotechnology courses within the Continuing Education Workforce Development department. This role is designed for individuals with a background in biotechnology who can effectively deliver course content and engage students in a part-time capacity during the academic year.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Applied Science (AAS) or higher in biotechnology and 2 or more years of experience in the field OR 3+ years of experience as a Core-Tech or similar biotechnology or pharmacological lab experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and intermediate computer skills.
• Ability to demonstrate cell culture techniques including passaging, thawing, cryopreservation, and cell counting.

Nice To Haves

• Prior teaching or trainer experience.
• Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.

Responsibilities

• Teach biotechnology courses in the Continuing Education Workforce Development department.
• Develop laboratory and lecture strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness.
• Utilize interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
• Operate specialized laboratory equipment and audio-visual aids for class demonstrations.
