We would love for you to become a member of our team! The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred.
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Front Desk experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
  • One of the following certifications is required (or must obtain within 15 months of hire): CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, NRCMA.
  • CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date and must be kept active in lieu of MA certification within the first 15 months of hire.
  • In lieu of an approved MA Certification, we will also accept the following certifications at the time of hire: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN, EMT, CNA.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the check-in and registration process.
  • Interviews patients and measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height).
  • Records information on patients' charts.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Conducts patient registration, which includes securing required paperwork and insurance documentation, and verification of insurance and patient eligibility.
  • Processes co-pays and schedules patient appointments for assigned center.
  • Coordinates provider referrals to assigned Specialist.
  • Answers patient questions regarding their care and keeps them informed of their status.
  • Informs technical staff of patient flow.
  • Prepares patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit.
  • Performs preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalates critical cases to provider as needed.
  • Conducts point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provides patient information to provider.
  • Responsible for stocking supplies and maintenance of exam rooms, front desk, and reception area; ensures providers have medical supplies needed.
  • Completes order sheets to maintain supply inventory levels; regularly checks expiration dates on supplies.
  • Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
  • Answers phone calls, collects and sorts daily incoming and outgoing postal correspondence.
  • Ensures reception is well maintained.
  • Conducts courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up.
  • Performs opening and closing duties, which includes cashing out, end-of-day communication, and securing the building.
  • Follows operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintains Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, performs preventive maintenance, and submits repair tickets as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $17.50- $25.50.
  • Bonus eligible up to $600/month.
