About The Position

The CDL A Delivery Driver Trainee position at Sysco is designed for individuals who possess a CDL permit and are eager to start their trucking career. This role involves training to become a dependable Delivery Partner, where trainees will learn to safely operate a tractor-trailer, unload and deliver products according to a set route schedule, and build positive relationships with customers. The position emphasizes safety, customer service, and adherence to regulations while preparing trainees to obtain their Class-A CDL within a specified timeframe.

Requirements

• Must be 21+ years of age.
• Must obtain a valid CDL Permit and DOT medical certification prior to pre-employment background check.
• Must submit to and pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check).
• Must obtain Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within ninety (90) days of start date to remain actively employed.
• Must have one year Distribution/Warehouse experience or other military experience in lieu of.

Responsibilities

• Unload product from trailer, by hand or using a hand cart, and place in designated customer storage areas.
• Transport product down ramps, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions.
• Constantly bend and twist while loading and unloading product and retrieving items from the trailer.
• Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; contact management for authorization when there are discrepancies on invoices.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities following DOT regulations and Sysco policies.
• Pickup, load, and unload damaged goods and customer returns, completing necessary paperwork.
• Complete DOT logs (electronic or manual) and vehicle maintenance reports, reconciling with appropriate company representatives as required.
• Deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows, informing management of any deviations.
