About The Position

The Care Facilitator/Internship position at Fred Finch Youth & Family Services is designed for individuals pursuing a career in mental health, particularly those in a Master's-level program. This role involves providing recovery-oriented, culturally responsive support services to at-risk youth and young adults experiencing mental health challenges. The position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience while fulfilling internship requirements, with a focus on individualized skill-building and community resource linkage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in case management or helping youth manage mental health symptoms.
  • Ability to conduct CANS/ANSA assessments within 90 days of employment if credentialed as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist.
  • Demonstrated understanding of developmental milestones of children and youth.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and effective community-based interventions.
  • Ability to utilize de-escalation techniques in crisis situations.
  • Cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
  • Clean driving record and current CA Driver's License or ability to obtain within 10 days after start.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience with the program target population (e.g., intellectually disabled, homeless, teens).
  • One year of experience with program modalities (e.g., school-based, residential, mobile/community-based).
  • Familiarity with recovery-model orientation and public mental health systems.
  • Strong behavioral and crisis management skills.
  • Fluency in the prevailing language(s) of the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, recovery-oriented support services to at-risk youth and young adults.
  • Conduct individualized skill-building interventions to reduce symptoms or increase coping skills.
  • Facilitate Child and Family Team Meetings and provide family support.
  • Document services, including patterns of behavior and incidents.
  • Participate in training and supervisory meetings.
  • Transport participants and link them to community resources.
