About The Position

The Business Solution Analyst at IT@JH Office of the Deputy CIO is responsible for defining and documenting requirements from a diverse set of functional and technical users. This role involves translating user requirements into technical specifications for data engineers and business intelligence developers, while ensuring a strong commitment to data quality and excellent customer service. The analyst will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand business processes, manage project scope, and recommend solutions based on expertise in business intelligence tools and modern data solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Four years of related experience in gathering requirements, testing, and delivering solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and explain complex business and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering reports and dashboards in Power BI and/or Tableau.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM-related field.
  • Prior experience with student systems and data.
  • Experience with SQL, ideally MS-SQL.
  • Knowledge of dimensional data modeling and information architectures.
  • Experience in an agile development environment, including Atlassian tools.
  • Proficiency in statistics and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Build customer relationships by collaborating with customers to understand their business processes and objectives.
  • Gather requirements by working with business owners to identify critical performance metrics and acceptance criteria.
  • Contribute to overall project management, tracking, and status reporting for internal teams and customers.
  • Facilitate communication among customers, developers, and engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Serve as the key liaison between business users and data engineers to communicate project expectations.
  • Develop dashboards and data models in Power BI.
  • Document and perform unit, integration, and quality assurance testing for datasets and reports.
  • Plan and roll out solutions by coordinating with software engineers and customers for production releases.
  • Create or support the creation of user guides and job aids.
  • Maintain production support documentation and provide production support.
