About The Position

The City of Maplewood is seeking a Building Inspector who is an expert in building codes and regulations. Requirements

• Proven experience as a Building Inspector or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Strong communication skills to effectively educate and inform the public.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

• Experience with multi-family residential projects.
• Familiarity with local building codes specific to Maplewood.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential and commercial buildings for compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Educate homeowners and contractors on building safety and code requirements.
• Review building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
• Issue permits and certificates of occupancy as required.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure compliance with corrections made after initial inspections.
