Backend Software Engineer

We are seeking a strong software engineer to contribute to our platform engineering team in Ireland. The role involves working with cutting-edge technologies to build highly scalable and resilient integrations between the SilverCloud platform, web services, internal systems, and third-party applications. API development is a key focus, with some front-end work involved. The ideal candidate should have experience in Python, RESTful APIs, and MYSQL, as well as familiarity with modern web frameworks. Responsibilities include developing new integrations, testing and fixing bugs, and gaining knowledge in the behavioral healthcare space. The role also involves designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and systems, optimizing web services for speed and scalability, ensuring application observability, implementing security and data protection, and collaborating with colleagues in an agile environment to build globally scalable features.

Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across SilverCloud Health's engineering teams and partners.

Participate in projects from start to finish, from helping scope projects to measuring their success and iterating based on customer feedback.

Optimization of web services for maximum speed and scalability.

Ensure application observability in the form of metrics, logging, and monitoring.

Implementation of security and data protection.

Work with colleagues in an agile environment, across design, product, and engineering to build features that scale across the globe.

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience working with web services and APIs, preferably with Python/Django, MySQL, and RESTful web services
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Experience with authentication mechanisms like OAuth and SAML
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different functions, stakeholders, and subject matter experts
