Backend Engineer

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to join our team in the Lending value stream of our R&D department. Specifically, you will be focusing on Backbase Loan Origination, which supports various unsecured lending products. As part of an autonomous team, you will contribute to the development life cycle of our digital banking product suite, taking ownership of your work and collaborating with other team members to ensure implementation aligns with our technical vision and best practices. We offer a hybrid working model that allows for a combination of on-site and off-site work.

• Contribute to new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements in the Backbase Loan Origination system
• Take ownership of software development life cycle for the digital banking product suite, from idea to release
• Collaborate with architects, QA engineers, and other team members to ensure implementation is done according to technical vision and best practices
• Help banks understand their customers better, anticipate their needs, and maintain engagement after loan payment
• Assist bank customers in easily sharing their financial information from current accounts or cloud-based accounting systems
• Provide a centralized platform for customers to view all credit and non-credit financial products, monitor loan applications, and request changes
• Utilize AI/ML technology to analyze and auto-approve loan applications

• Experienced backend engineer
• Familiarity with Backbase Loan Origination
• Knowledge of common unsecured lending products (overdrafts, credit cards, unsecured personal loans, unsecured small business loans)
• Ability to contribute to new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements
• Ownership of software development life cycle for digital banking product suite
• Collaboration with architects, QA engineers, and other team members
• Implementation according to technical vision and best practices
• Hybrid working model (location-flexible arrangement)
• Understanding of Backbase Digital Lending and its features
• Ability to analyze and auto-approve loan applications using AI/ML technology

• Solid background in software development including design
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all levels
• Experience in the banking domain or fintech products considered an advantage
• Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written
• Experience with Java, Spring, Maven, CI and CD
• Experience with microservices (Netflix OSS is a plus)
• Knowledgeable of relational databases
• Experience with non-functionals such as security, performance, scalability etc.
• Being a Full Stack developer is a huge advantage
• Solid understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns
