About The Position

The position involves reading customer architectural and mechanical plans and using CAD software to create drawings for customer and manufacturing processes. The drawings are based on designs and sketches provided by engineers or more experienced staff. The candidate must be capable of reading and understanding customer requirements in the form of quotations and specifications. A working knowledge of drafting fundamentals is essential, including orthographic views, standard dimensioning practices, scaling, and familiarity with both English and metric units of measure. The role includes creating drawings that involve checking dimensions of parts, documenting materials to be used, and verifying the form, fit, and function of parts in assemblies. The candidate will follow directions and is expected to learn Ruskin drafting standards while developing a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, machines, and various building materials.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and drafting fundamentals
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and mechanical plans
  • Knowledge of orthographic views and standard dimensioning practices
  • Familiarity with scaling and both English and metric units of measure
  • Experience in creating mechanical designs, specifically dampers and louvers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Revit
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading
