About The Position

The Associate Director, U.S. Market Access Oncology Pipeline at AbbVie is responsible for leading the U.S. market access strategy development for early oncology pipeline priority assets. This role involves leveraging clinical understanding and expertise in Evidence Based Medicine to shape pivotal clinical development programs for pre-launch compounds, ensuring that the voice of U.S. payers is integrated into the early drug development process. The position requires collaboration across various teams to develop integrated asset strategies and ensure optimal asset planning.

Requirements

  • More than 5 years of direct biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience and/or payer experience.
  • Relevant global payer and access experience.
  • B.A./B.S. required; Advanced degree (PharmD, MBA, PhD) in a scientific or economic area is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, intrapersonal, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Comfortable contributing to technical clinical and disease area discussions.
  • Knowledge of pricing policy & regulations and healthcare in key markets, preferably for medical benefit products.
  • Understanding of regulatory agency requirements or policies that govern market approval, and the impact on reimbursement decisions.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create an overall price, reimbursement and access (PRA) strategy for oncology assets aligned to the commercial strategy.
  • Lead TouchPoint process for specific indications, working closely with in-line and field teams to ensure clinical programs are designed for success.
  • Address reimbursement and pricing potential and inform early price potential for oncology assets.
  • Strategically partner with PCS and IMAP to develop Early Integrated Value Proposition (EIVP) for key solid tumor assets.
  • Co-Lead the Value and Access Teams (VATs) with International Market Access (IMAP) colleagues and lead creation of US EIVPs and Integrated Access Strategies (IAS).
  • Lead the creation of Integrated Asset Strategies, Disease Area Strategies and Early Integrated Value Propositions within the AbbVie Oncology Portfolio.
  • Collaborate with teams across BUs, IMAP, Medical, HEOR, IRA, R&D and others to ensure the value drivers of USMAx Decision Makers are incorporated into Pipeline Commercialization Strategies.
  • Stay close to channel customer dynamics and priorities, partnering with IRA and strategy team to ensure optimal asset planning.
  • Incorporate reimbursement perspective into early brand plans, disease area strategies and portfolio strategies throughout key clinical development milestones.
  • Inform key asset milestone decisions by identifying access trade-offs (price, speed, population).
  • Maintain oncology US market access assigned budget.
