About The Position

The Associate Director of Safeguarding at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing safeguarding practices across the Trust. This position requires expert knowledge in safeguarding, public protection, and the care of vulnerable individuals. The successful candidate will lead safeguarding teams, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and enhancing the quality of care provided to patients, their families, and the community.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse, midwife, AHP or social worker
  • Degree in nursing, midwifery or a subject suitable for AHP registration or social work
  • Health or social care related master's degree
  • Extensive experience at a senior clinical or social work level in a large complex healthcare organization
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of safeguarding in acute hospitals
  • Experience in managing change in a complex environment
  • Experience of quality improvement methods and techniques
  • Experience of analyzing complex data and interpreting national guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a member of the senior team, deputising for the Deputy Chief Nurse and taking responsibility for corporate strategic and operational functions in relation to the Safeguarding and Public Protection agenda.
  • Represent the Executive Office of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery in key relationships within the Trust and with external partners.
  • Provide advice and guidance on all safeguarding issues, service, and practice development in relation to safeguarding, public protection, and mental health.
  • Deliver operational management to Safeguarding Teams across the Trust, integrating these functions for the first time.
  • Support professional governance and assurance issues related to safeguarding, public protection, and mental health.
  • Provide professional support for research and development initiatives related to safeguarding and public protection.
  • Ensure effective management of patient safety and safeguarding functions coordinated by the Executive Office of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery.
  • Develop key relationships with Divisional Directors of Quality & Nursing and Director of Midwifery regarding safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Promote the safeguarding agenda including MARAC, MAPPA, and Prevent initiatives.
  • Interpret national health and social care policies to produce relevant clinical guidance and direction.
