About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the execution of large construction and telecommunications projects. This position involves various responsibilities including pre-planning, budgeting, resource allocation, contract negotiation, and coordination with subcontractors. The Assistant Project Manager will manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring that all activities align with project goals and timelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of field construction experience working as an assistant PM or PE role.
  • Knowledgeable in site/civil construction.
  • Ability to read project plans and specifications.
  • Experience managing difficult customer situations and responding promptly to customer needs.
  • Relevant past experience working on public works, telecommunications, and/or various utility companies preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification; OSHA 30 certification a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills.
  • Excellent written/communication skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test/physical/background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Manage on-site construction activities as the designated Project Manager.
  • Read and interpret construction plans to ensure project alignment.
  • Participate in onsite job walks with clients, documenting key takeaways and updates.
  • Help gather and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining project schedules.
  • Coordinate with various trades and team members to ensure seamless communication and workflow.
  • Organize and manage all project documents, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.
  • Address challenges proactively and provide effective solutions.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to overall project success.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings; review pay applications; review and resolve change order requests; assist with closeout/turnover activities.
