About The Position

Orbital Engineering is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in the field of Electric Utilities to join a Project Management Team based out of our Pittsburgh, PA location. The role will entail supporting various aspects of project management processes/activities through all stages, from project inception through closeout. Project types primarily include substation projects (greenfield, brownfield rebuilds/expansions, equipment replacements/upgrades, etc.) throughout Western Pennsylvania. Opportunities to graduate to Project Manager will be presented as candidate earns experience and demonstrates proficiency in all facets of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field.
  • 3-5 Years Project Management Experience.
  • Experience in Commercial / Industrial T&D or Experience in Management Preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Competent in basic computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe).
  • Competent in scheduling software (P6) and provide schedule updates as required.
  • Organized, self-motivated, coachable, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well in a group setting and manage simultaneous tasks.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and personal vehicle to frequent construction sites.
  • Good Understanding of basic financial planning and forecasting.
  • Ability to make good judgment based on facts and data.
  • Ability to pass a post-offer drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Work with team members to ensure complete compliance with all safety procedures at site.
  • Support Senior Project Management Staff as needed to drive project tasks to completion.
  • Provide regular updates to Senior Project Management Staff regarding completed, ongoing, and upcoming tasks.
  • Attend regularly scheduled project meetings to maintain working knowledge of project status.
  • Participate in on-site field walkdowns and contribute to project goals/objectives in a group setting.
  • Provide input to improve processes/procedures to maximize efficiency and performance.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrate ability in daily task planning and strategic task planning.
  • Ask questions and seek training required to execute tasks.
  • Learn and use multiple software systems as required.
