About The Position

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality care in a skilled nursing facility. This position involves assisting the Director of Nurses in managing the nursing department's daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting the well-being of residents through effective care plans and staffing management.

Requirements

  • Must have completed an RN program at an accredited vocational school, college, or university.
  • Must possess a current Texas RN Licensure.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience working in a skilled nursing facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred to possess a current RUG certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the nursing department's daily functions.
  • Develop and evaluate methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services.
  • Communicate with attending physicians and medical directors regarding resident care issues.
  • Communicate with families about resident care issues when appropriate.
  • Assist in determining staffing needs for the nursing service department.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of nursing personnel.
  • Verify sufficient nursing staff availability for each shift.
  • Develop work assignments and schedules for nursing staff.
  • Supervise staff to ensure completion of assigned tasks.
  • Participate in the facility's quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
  • Review resident clinical records and consultant reports as needed.
  • Assist with MDS assessments and care plans as required.
  • Implement compliance actions regarding regulatory reports.
  • Participate in the nursing on-call schedule.
