About The Position

The Assistant Chief Engineer at Sudler Property Management plays a crucial role in the daily operations of building systems within a Hyde Park condominium association. This position involves overseeing maintenance activities, training staff, and ensuring compliance with building procedures and safety standards. The Assistant Chief Engineer will work closely with the Chief Engineer to manage mechanical equipment, respond to emergencies, and maintain effective communication with residents and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5 years of maintenance experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience in supervising maintenance staff.
• Knowledge of plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Mechanical knowledge and ability to use hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective administration of the building under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Support and direct the daily activities of Maintenance/Janitorial Staff.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies according to documented procedures.
• Ensure compliance with House Rules in the Hospitality Room.
• Establish and implement effective procedures for maintenance tasks.
• Communicate with the Chief Engineer and Property Manager to enhance office and administrative procedures.
• Promote and sustain the safety of the building and its residents.
• Perform routine unit remodel inspections to ensure compliance with building and code standards.
• Maintain daily logs on building equipment and systems.
• Train staff on equipment operation and potential problem identification.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance with the Chief Engineer.
• Advise management of building problems and needed resolutions.
• Interview and train Maintenance/Janitorial staff as needed.
• Maintain supply inventory and obtain approval for reordering supplies.
• Manage janitorial staff to ensure proper cleaning of the property.
• Complete work orders provided by the Chief Engineer and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units.
