About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Game Presentation at the University of Memphis is responsible for leading marketing initiatives and game presentation strategies for assigned sports, particularly football and men's basketball. This role involves developing promotional concepts, overseeing social media functions, and managing a team of marketing staff, interns, and student workers. The position aims to enhance student attendance and engagement at athletic events while ensuring compliance with university and NCAA policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of experience in a college marketing/promotions office, or with a marketing firm OR Master's degree and three (3) years of experience in a college marketing/promotions office, or with a marketing firm.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in various marketing software products including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the marketing and game presentation point of contact for assigned sports, including football and/or men's basketball, focusing on developing promotional concepts and gameday scripts.
  • Develop and oversee marketing strategies for the athletic department's external units and sport programs, analyzing nationwide trends to position Memphis for success.
  • Provide oversight to the marketing and gameday presentation department, including full-time employees, interns, student workers, and gameday staff.
  • Oversee the athletic department's social media functions and personnel.
  • Serve as the sport administrator for Memphis' cheer and dance programs.
  • Oversee the athletic department's advertising strategy and trade partnerships in conjunction with Learfield/Tiger Sports Properties.
  • Coordinate with student leadership and on-campus entities to enhance student attendance and involvement in athletic events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as liaison to additional campus units such as the marching band and pep band.
