About the position

The Assistant Facility Manager of Programming at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center is responsible for overseeing the scheduling and staffing of programs, camps, and special events. This role includes customer service, program development, budgeting, and ensuring safety across all assigned areas. The position aims to promote health and fitness while enhancing community engagement through various recreational offerings. The Assistant Manager will work closely with local businesses to foster community partnerships and will be part of the facility management team, contributing to overall operations and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling and staffing for programs, camps, and special events.
  • Manage customer service and ensure safety of all assigned areas.
  • Develop and organize programs and events to promote health and fitness.
  • Build positive relationships with local businesses and vendors.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Facility Manager.
  • Participate in facility management and program administration.
  • Conduct public relations and marketing efforts.
  • Manage staff training and performance.
  • Handle purchasing and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports & Leisure Studies or related field.
  • At least 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in recreation administration and programming.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and recreation management software.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Mandated Reporter Certification required or must obtain within 3 months.
  • Valid IL Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Athletics, Camps, and Special Events Planning.
  • Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) designation.
  • Familiarity with the Glen Ellyn community.
