Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Informatics, Information Security, Information Technology, or related.
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Technology, (Software) Engineering, or related.
  • Technical proficiency of Competent on the Dreyfus Engineer scale for internal applicants.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant hands-on experience with building highly scalable and reliable Java applications.
  • Knowledge on OAUTH 2.0/OIDC framework.
  • Experience with Java development on back-end, client facing application.
  • Experience working with an Agile software development methodology.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.
  • Self-motivated and openly challenging the team to continuously improve.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight on design and implementation of products assigned to their team.
  • Take user stories and new features from idea to production unattended.
  • Actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
  • Collaborate with product managers and peers to execute on a broad range of projects for the digital products that power Discover's Open Banking Platform.
  • Analyze, design, code, test, and deploy new user stories and product features with high quality.
  • Guide early-career engineers by providing learning tasks and directing their work.
  • Remediate issues using engineering principles and create proactive design solutions for potential failures.
  • Achieve team commitments through collaboration with other engineers, architects, product owners, and data scientists.
  • Contribute to and lead technology communities of practice at Discover.
  • Create and enforce IT standards within the system/application infrastructure.
