About the position

We are seeking an Expansion Lead to join our Singapore office and drive the expansion of our Assets product across the APAC region. In this role, you will be responsible for building strong commercial and regulatory relationships to ensure the best product experience for our customers. Working closely with the Assets Product team, you will provide expertise in local financial markets, shape the product vision, and contribute to changing the future of finance. Additionally, you will be tasked with identifying new commercial opportunities and strategic partnerships to optimize the product experience. Responsibilities

  • Expand the Assets product across APAC
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end process of expanding the product to new markets across APAC
  • Analyze the optimal route to market for the Assets product in different markets, considering customer needs, product functionality, and regulatory requirements
  • Build a good relationship with regulatory authorities to ensure a smooth licensing process and success once the license is granted
  • Ensure that the operating model agreed with regulators is efficient and aligns with product and customer needs
  • Source and/or hire personnel required to obtain the license, such as a local compliance officer or financial controller
  • Liaise closely with teams across Wise such as Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Compliance to ensure necessary resources and processes are in place for successful operations
  • Build strong commercial relationships
  • Identify new commercial relationships with investment managers, banks, and payments partners to optimize the product experience for customers
  • Onboard new partners and negotiate contracts, considering commercial priorities and risks
  • Manage existing commercial relationships to ensure the best outcomes for customers in terms of price and coverage
  • Identify new strategic opportunities
  • Shape the product vision and roadmap alongside the Product Manager
  • Work closely with the Product Manager and the wider team to prioritize opportunities, considering the product roadmap, resource, and product build requirements
  • Identify and size new product ideas to test, build, and launch

Requirements

  • 4-7 years work experience within financial services, financial technology, startup or technology companies
  • Detailed knowledge of financial systems including banking and investments infrastructure, payment rails, regulatory agencies and regulations
  • Ability to structure and manage the end-to-end process for expanding financial services products to new markets, including scoping route to market and applying for new licenses from local regulators
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry and understanding of different financial products and how they work, as well as their risks and target markets
  • Negotiation skills for establishing commercial relationships with a clear product vision and understanding in mind
  • Familiarity with fund managers and financial institutions, and ability to manage those relationships and create opportunities for improvement
  • Ability to generate fresh ideas, solve problems in novel ways, and communicate the impact of those ideas to gather stakeholder buy-in
  • Passion for the mission of transforming the financial industry for good
  • Flexibility for some international travel (around 10-20% of time)
