About The Position

The Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS) plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the National Airspace System (NAS). The ATSS collaborates with various stakeholders, including engineers and contractors, to install, repair, and enhance aviation systems, while also ensuring compliance with FAA policies and safety standards.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of technology system interrelationships and management of aviation systems.
• Experience in civilian or military automated aviation, navigation, and electronics systems.
• Ability to interpret FAA orders and technical manuals.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

• Experience with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) regulations.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

Responsibilities

• Receives general work assignments from a supervisor and uses judgment to solve problems.
• Applies advanced technical knowledge to complete complex work assignments.
• Utilizes FAA orders, technical manuals, and manufacturer's instructions to perform tasks.
• Initiates action to install, repair, or restore systems and services, considering backup systems and minimizing service interruptions.
• Collaborates with system users, planners, engineers, and contractors for system installation and testing.
• Develops methods to enhance system efficiency through technology modifications.
• Acts as a key technical point of contact for assigned systems and projects.
