About The Position

The Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic position involves the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. The role requires technical skills to troubleshoot and repair various components, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. The mechanic will work from blueprints and specifications, applying their knowledge to diagnose and resolve issues in HVAC/R systems.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.
• Must obtain and maintain a current CFC/HFC (Universal) Certification as required by the EPA.
• Must successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with analog and direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding refrigerants.

Responsibilities

• Apply techniques and procedures involved in the installation and repair of HVAC/R systems.
• Replace joints and fixtures to repair refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning units.
• Remove and repair parts and components; install, test, and adjust safety cutoffs and automatic regulating controls.
• Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to execute tasks.
• Calculate angles, offsets, and variations using diagrams and blueprints according to specifications.
• Utilize testing techniques to locate worn and broken parts of the equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic controls, timers, relays, and complex control panel systems.
