AI Controls Solutions Engineer

As an AI Controls Solutions Engineer at Phaidra, you will play a critical role in operationalizing and scaling the company's solutions for enterprise data center customers. Your responsibilities will include using Phaidra's platform and tools to put AI into production, creating a model of the facility for ingestion by the AI Agent, and working closely with customers to define the AI problem and deploy solutions. Additionally, you will collaborate with the product team to identify and define product requirements based on customer specifications and needs. This role requires knowledge of chiller plant fundamentals, applied thermodynamics, control systems and protocols, data center controls, and cooling methodologies. Strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in Python scripting, and excellent communication skills are also essential.

• Use Phaidra's platform and tools to put AI into production for enterprise data center customers
• Create a model of the facility for ingestion by the AI Agent, working closely with the AI research team
• Help Phaidra's customers get the most out of their technologies by defining the AI problem, understanding technology capabilities and limitations, and identifying opportunities for value creation
• Rapidly deploy solutions to production using Phaidra's platform and tools
• Work with the product team to identify and define product requirements based on customer specifications and needs
• Collaborate with other AI Controls Solutions Engineers and the Product team to ensure scalability across thousands of customers
• Travel up to 25% of the time
• Have knowledge of chiller plant fundamentals, configurations, and sequence of operations
• Understand applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics
• Design, program, or have a strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols
• Deep understanding of data center specific controls and cooling methodologies
• Understand the applications and control strategies of air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems
• Proficient in working with data center operations teams and solving field operations related problems
• Analyze the performance and viability of engineered solutions
• Translate customer needs into coherent documentation for the software development team
• Have a good educational background in relevant disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, etc.
• Read and write Python scripts to implement Phaidra's AI development tool for customer use cases
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to non-experts

• Familiarity with scrum and agile methodologies, rapidly prototyping new technologies, owning and operating codebases/services, architecting services within cloud platforms, applying AI and ML in controls applications, statistics and analytics, and domain relevant optimization problems and solutions
• Familiarity with markup languages like Xml, Json, or Yaml

• Knowledge of chiller plant fundamentals, configurations, and sequence of operations.
• Understanding of applied thermodynamics for cooling systems, refrigeration systems, and hydronics.
• Experience designing, programming, or strong working knowledge of industrial and commercial control systems and protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
• Deep understanding of data center specific controls and cooling methodologies.
• Understanding the applications and control strategies of air side chilled water and direct expansion cooling systems.
• Strong proficiency in working with data center operations teams and contributing to solving field operations related problems and challenges.
• Ability to analyze the performance and viability of engineered solutions.
• Passion for problem solving and using scalable solutions to solve repeat problems.
• Ability to translate customer needs into coherent documentation for software development.
• Good educational background in related disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Control Theory, Applied Mathematics, etc.

• Familiarity with scrum and agile methodologies.
• Experience with rapidly prototyping new technologies and converting them into commercially viable products.
• Experience building, owning, and operating codebases/services.
