About The Position

The After-School Youth Care Worker will partner with the St. Louis Public Schools to assist youth in excelling and aiming higher in social and emotional learning, overall wellness, and academics. Working together with school counselors, teachers, therapists, and youth peer specialists, the YCW will provide effective crisis intervention services, including behavioral health education and support, brief solution-focused treatment, de-escalation, and mental health first aid. Additionally, the YCW will connect community youth with other professionals, such as social workers and psychologists, to address specific needs.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the St. Louis Area Mental Health Network, the Crisis Intervention Model, and the DSM-V.
  • Able to write clinical documentation, conduct mental health assessments and develop client treatment plans.
  • Work well independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong service coordination and team building skills.
  • Must be flexible with work hours and special requests from leadership.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and educational development.
  • Must own an adequately insured, reliable vehicle.
  • MO Class E or state equivalent driver's license (required).

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of clinical experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly document clinical information in client's records.
  • Monitor youth's progress status and the effectiveness of the strategies and interventions outlined in their treatment plan.
  • Submit service notes within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Teach coping skills to youths served.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions alongside therapist and/or youth peer specialist.
  • Provide crisis management and therapeutic interventions for youth.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation related to the after-school program.
  • Close out shift by ensuring all daily documentation (ex. point sheets, behavioral tracking logs) is completed, materials are properly stored, and group areas are clean.
  • Provide transportation to program clients as needed.
  • Immediately report incidents within the day treatment program to the lead.
  • Participate in administrative/clinical supervision with the lead at least once monthly.
  • Follow through with recommendations from the immediate lead.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, BHR training, seminars, functions, and events.
