About The Position

The Administrative Support Assistant position at the Department of Agriculture's Manning Area Office involves providing essential administrative support to the Conservation Engineering Staff of the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). The role focuses on financial management, purchasing, leasing, contract management services, and overall office management. This is a full-time, permanent position that requires occasional travel and offers telework eligibility as determined by agency policy.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National status is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Successful completion of a one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Specialized experience for GS-07: One year of experience equivalent to GS-06 level, including utilizing computer programs for correspondence and reports, assisting with procurement, and tracking budgetary information.
  • Specialized experience for GS-08: One year of experience equivalent to GS-07 level, including providing guidance on timekeeping and leave regulations, and communicating information to field staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as timekeeper for the staff, verifying time and attendance information entered into the WebTA timekeeping system.
  • Prepare and review travel authorizations and vouchers for all staff employees via CONCUR.
  • Assist with the preparation of agreements and other fund-obligating documents by communicating with Conservation Partners and relevant staff.
  • Initiate personnel actions as instructed by the supervisor, including preparation of forms SF-52 and associated documentation.
  • Assist new staff with IT needs and coordinate access to the USDA network through proper form submissions.
  • Purchase supplies, equipment, and services through various procurement methods within delegated authority.
