About the position

Olivet Nazarene University's School of Nursing seeks to prepare students to excel in nursing with competence and excellence from a Christian perspective. The School of Nursing is seeking a clinical adjunct faculty member to provide clinical instruction in the undergraduate nursing program. Clinical shifts could be held from 8-12 hours at a time. Clinical groups could include 6-12 students, depending on the course and clinical facility. A mandatory orientation is held at the beginning of Fall and Spring semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate student skill demonstrations at the beginning of, and possibly throughout, the semester.
  • Supervise students in clinical as they holistically take on full care for patients during their shift.
  • Assist, to an appropriate extent based on student level in the program, with report/data gathering, assessments, medication/IV administration, skills, charting, communication, organization, critical thinking, and all related nursing roles and competencies.
  • Grade student clinical assignments such as journals and care plans.
  • Evaluate each student each day on department forms, including the Daily Clinical Evaluation Tool and Skills card.
  • Meet with students at the end of their rotation to give them a final evaluation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with students, didactic professor(s), and level coordinator(s).

Requirements

  • A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant.
  • At least five years of experience in the nursing field.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Microsoft Office suite experience and proficiency.

Nice-to-haves

  • A doctorate in nursing or related field is preferred.
  • PALS certification preferred for pediatric and critical care clinical assignments.
