About The Position
As a Peer Support Specialist at Seneca Family of Agencies, you will play a crucial role in making a positive impact on the lives of youth and their families. This position is designed for individuals who have personal experience navigating the complexities of child welfare, juvenile probation, or children's behavioral health systems. Your unique journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, will enable you to provide genuine support and advocacy to those in need. You will engage with youth and families through one-on-one and group peer support sessions, drawing from your lived experiences to guide them in navigating their own paths. Your role will be to serve as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that change is possible even when systems have fallen short. In the context of the Wraparound services offered by Seneca, you will be part of a family-based team that addresses the needs of the entire family, not just the at-risk child. This team includes family members, Care Coordinators, Youth Counselors, Peer Support Specialists, and other community members who play vital roles in supporting families. The Wraparound programs are strengths-based, family-driven, flexible, and creative, aimed at preventing or reducing the possibility of residential placement for children at risk. Your contributions will be essential in helping families develop the skills and supports they need to thrive.
