About The Position

Aberdeen Audiology is offering a fourth-year externship placement opportunity in a diverse and established private practice located in Philadelphia's Main Line suburbs. This externship is designed to provide students with comprehensive professional development in various audiology-related areas. The extern will gain hands-on experience in adult and pediatric amplification, including advanced techniques such as speech mapping. Additionally, the extern will be involved in vestibular testing and treatment, which includes VNG, rotary chair assessments, and VEMP. The externship will also cover assistive technology for both adults and children, focusing on hearing aid Bluetooth connectivity and remote microphone systems. The extern will participate in central auditory processing evaluations and treatment, as well as cochlear implant evaluations, mapping, orientation, and counseling. Community outreach and education are also integral parts of the externship, allowing the extern to engage with the community and promote audiological health. The extern will be involved in pediatric and adult diagnostics, utilizing evidence-based practices in patient counseling processes. The externship will also include exposure to telehealth service delivery models and specialized hearing aids, such as Lyric and bone-anchored hearing aids. The extern will have the opportunity to learn about tinnitus evaluation and treatment, including sound therapy and bimodal stimulation. Additionally, practice management skills will be developed throughout the externship. Candidates are expected to have diverse practicum experience, demonstrate initiative, possess strong communication skills, and show a desire to learn and work collaboratively in a team environment. An in-person interview will be part of the application process, ensuring that candidates are well-suited for the externship role.
