Michelin is hiring an Electrical/Automation Engineer to join our Central Engineering headquarters located at the Donaldson Campus in Greenville, South Carolina. This role is pivotal in leading, designing, and implementing electrical and automation solutions aimed at enhancing performance in safety, quality, productivity, delivery, costs, and innovation. As a part of a dynamic team of engineers, you will be responsible for the successful execution of major capital projects across North America, focusing on state-of-the-art processes related to material handling, tire-building, and curing operations in our manufacturing facilities throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. In this position, you will conduct pre-studies, prototypes, and pilots to capture business requirements and determine optimal solutions in terms of costs, benefits, deadlines, risks, and functional capabilities. You will design, build, and lead implementation projects to improve plant performance by replacing outdated systems, enhancing existing equipment, or integrating new innovations. Your role will also involve implementing best practices for automation design and development, ensuring that these practices are shared globally within the organization. You will maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors while staying updated on emerging trends and technologies in automation. The position requires you to provide detailed electrical design and automation programming for assigned projects, develop technical schedules, and provide backup support and training to plant maintenance teams on new automation systems. You will also manage project risks, schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring that all phases of process equipment addition, replacement, or upgrade are executed efficiently. This role may require travel up to 30% to various locations including Canada, the USA, Mexico, and some European countries.
