About The Position
The Donor Support Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation and monitoring of donors during the pheresis process at CSL Plasma. This position is responsible for ensuring that the autopheresis machine is properly prepared for the procedure, monitoring the donor throughout the process, and responding to any alarms or signals that may arise. Once the pheresis process is complete, the technician will safely disconnect the donor and maintain a high level of alertness to any reactions the donor may experience during or after the procedure. It is essential for the technician to notify the appropriate staff of any concerns or issues that arise during the process. In addition to monitoring the donor, the technician will utilize a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to document incidents that occur during the pheresis process, including machine alerts, volume variances, and any adverse events experienced by the donor. The technician is also responsible for linking equipment and supplies used during the process to the appropriate donor in the electronic donor information management system, ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role requires a thorough understanding of the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable. Maintaining a clean and efficient work environment is a key responsibility, as is ensuring that sufficient operating supplies and forms are available. The technician must adhere to all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions. Confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information must be maintained at all times. The technician may also be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business and may be required to perform job-related duties as assigned. Bilingual skills may be necessary at the discretion of the organization to meet business needs.
