The Oregon Department of Human Services is seeking compassionate individuals to join our Gresham Child Welfare team as Child Protective Services (CPS) Workers. This role is pivotal in safeguarding children and strengthening families, making a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon's most vulnerable populations. As a CPS Worker, you will be responsible for responding to referrals regarding child abuse or neglect, gathering information through interviews with parents and children, and observing and analyzing the safety of home environments. You will also gather collateral information from various sources, including school personnel, doctors, therapists, and law enforcement officers, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each case. In this position, you will fulfill documentation requirements and enter information into databases, arrange medical evaluations, and facilitate substitute care placements for children when necessary. Additionally, you will present and testify in court, advocating for the best interests of the children and families involved. This role requires a strong commitment to the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation, which aims to support children and young adults in becoming safer, healthier, and experiencing less trauma, ultimately achieving greater well-being.
